what is the techtimeout10 challenge?
The techtimeout10 challenge is designed to promote healthier relationships with technology.
We carry our phones and other technology everywhere with us. This challenge can benefit people who want to be less dependent on their technology, or just want to take a short break from it, every day for 10 days.
Use the techtimeout challenge bag that we provide (or even something simple like a sock!), put your phone in it and set an amount of time for you to not use your phone. While your phone is out of sight, choose a tech-free activity you want to do (such as taking a walk), or doing a new hobby (such as crocheting)!

what did I do during my techtimeout10 challenge??
I tried a lot of new and old hobbies and activities while participating in the techtimeout10 challenge. I have to say that going outside for a jog for an hour was the best part.
I recently got a gym membership to lose the lockdown pounds and the freedom of going for a run around the field near my house felt so refreshing. It was particularly sunny that day and it was the best feeling with the heat pushing me on - along with a lot of water!
I am definitely continuing to do this now that I have completed the challenge. I normally use social media a lot when I go out so a break every once in a while is beneficial.
what other activities did I do?
I picked up a book for the first time in a long while - starting with the classic ‘To kill a Mockingbird’ by Harper Lee - a book I had lying around.
I also did a lot of cooking and baking; I made a Lasagna as well as a classic vanilla cake, topped with custard. I had previous experience with making these, and I was feeling peckish on those days so I thought I might as well try to make them myself.
I also went to my gym to workout, and that was also a great way to relieve stress - the shower at the end was relaxing too.
what has been the impact of the techtimeout10 challenge?
This challenge has been amazing for my wellbeing. It helped me realise how much I use technology, whether it’s my phone, computer, or even my headphones. It showed me that I can have a couple of minutes or maybe an hour each day without technology.
