why companies become techtimeout accredited

leading the way as a business taking action and supporting mental health and productivity

With employees spending most of their time looking at screens, accreditation shows you're fully aware of the negative effects of too much screen-time. Not only do you have awareness, you have the support and infrastructure in place to help prevent digital distractions and overwhelm.

This is an incredibly important and needed service. Businesses need to prepare now for the adverse impact of the digital overload their employees have been and will continue to experience.

The guidance that techtimeout provides makes it easy for businesses to put the right support in place for employees.

A healthier relationship with technology can help employees create healthy habits and become less easily distracted in a world of endless digital distractions and multiple communication channels.

"I find my phone and social media to be so addictive. You find you fall down the wormhole of "just 5 more minutes" and before you know it you have wasted so much time. I really enjoyed it and found there was much more to see and do without my phone."

find out how your employees feel about tech/life balance and screen-time

After the challenge, you have the option of sharing an anonymous survey with your team. This helps you understand how your employees feel about their relationship with technology and how they found the challenge.

"It was good to get time away from my phone. Staring at a screen all day with work and then the rest of my day staring at my phone was becoming an issue. It was lovely to have an excuse to take a walk or pick up an actual real book"

how it works

step 1: raising awareness

Make your employees aware of the potential impact that overusing technology can have on mental health and productivity to start your business on a journey to better digital wellbeing.

Launching the techtimeout10 challenge in your business does just that - it empowers employees to question whether they have healthy habits and boundaries in relation to their technology.

The follow up survey, gives you an insight into how your employees feel about their relationship with technology and discover whether more work is required in your business to support your teams with digital wellbeing.

At this stage, you can achieve 'techtimeout aware' status in recognition of your commitment to highlighting digital wellbeing in your business.

... but what's next for businesses fully committed to supporting the digital wellbeing of employees?

step 1: raising awareness

step 2: taking action

step 2: taking action

A techtimeout accreditation represents a proven commitment to supporting the digital wellbeing of your teams.

To become accredited, we've put together a concise but insightful survey that takes a look at the technology and mental health policies, initiatives and infrastructure that you have in place.

We then take a look at the data and build a clear picture of how employees are supported at work. The survey takes into account differentiating needs across sectors as we understand that different businesses require different working practices.

From the data, you will either be awarded techtimeout accreditation or given clear action-points to get you there. If you don't receive accreditation straight away, you can action this feedback and re-submit the survey when you're ready.

On receipt of the survey, a member of our team will be in touch for a conversation to validate your answers and assist you with any support you need.

When you achieve accreditation, we send you a pack that includes graphics, logos and a useful guide so that you can make the most of your new status.

Don't worry, working with techtimeout will not negatively impact the productivity of your teams. In fact, a healthier relationship with technology enhances productivity.

It's not about number of hours worked or what hours your teams are available. It's about being clear of what is required of your employees and the support in place for employees who experience any negative impacts related to technology and their digital wellbeing (the impact of technology on mental, physical and emotional health).

There's only one way to find out. If you have already been awarded 'techtimeout aware' status and if you have mental health support in place, you can be confident that you are well on your way to accreditation.

Once you've completed the survey, you will be given action points if you're not quite there yet. This advice makes it simple for you to plan how you're going to get to accreditation.

Then when you're ready, you can have another go at the survey.

Technology has evolved (and continues to evolve) at a rapid pace. We've all embraced technology and a digital world but have you ever taken a step back to realise it's impact both personally and professionally?

Overwhelm and burnout are all too common. Research shows that overusing and mindless use of technology impacts mental health, productivity, focusing power and relationships.

It's time to raise awareness of our dependency on technology and make 'techtimeouts' (a period of time, away from screens) a regular thing.

The accreditation will help you stand out in your sector as an employer proven to have support in place for employees.

Through identifying key themes that influence the experience of your employees, we've been able to condense the survey to keep it as quick and simple as possible to complete.

You may need to source some information from other members of your team but it isn't a laborious process.

Providing you've got the information to hand, you can complete the survey in under 30 minutes.

From sign up to accreditation status, we've had some businesses who have signed up and completed the process in as little as 3 days and others who have received action points and decided to spread over a couple of months.

It depends what stage your business is at and your current workload and resource.

The techtimeout10 challenge can be completed by individual teams within a business.

The techtimeout accreditation is based on the whole business infrastructure so cannot be completed by individual teams.

Subsidiaries under one parent company can take part as individual entities providing there's differentiation of brands.
